Ever since I was old enough to know what an airplane was, I wanted to be a pilot. I was 16 when I had my first flying lesson in 1983 in Durango, Colorado. I was hooked immediately. As a high school student, I saved every dollar to attend Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC), an aviation school that caters to aspiring pilots.
After graduating with an associate degree in Aviation Technology, I became a flight instructor for CNCC and taught the mountain flying course. Eventually, I returned to Durango, Colorado to help run the family survey business. It didn’t last. My passion for flying got me right back into aviation…But not as a pilot. Instead, I apprenticed under an aircraft mechanic.
Learning how to maintain aircraft made me want to fly even more, while making me a better aviator. This ultimately led me back to a full time career as a pilot.
I have chalked up over 8,600 hours and have flown the following:
C150/152, 172, 180, 182, 206, 210, 310, 404, 421, 500 (Citation Jet)
Piper Super Cub, Archer, Arrow, Cherokee, Aztec
Mooney M20C
Later, I made the decision to work exclusively as a flight instructor at Animas Air Park. With over 20 years of experience, I offer the safest and most current flight instruction available today. |
